#1: The Timeline

In case you were wondering, no we aren’t talking about the “sacred timeline” from the Marvel show Loki, but a wedding day timeline is of the utmost importance. 

After you have booked all of your vendors make sure to set up your timeline so that there is plenty of buffer time built in. If you are working with a wedding coordinator make sure they walk you through the timeline and incorporate any feedback you might have for it.

Just like a champagne toast, the more people who are included, the better the experience for all. Make sure to include all your vendors on the timeline and share it with them so they know the flow of the day. The better informed everyone is, the more seamlessly your wedding day will flow. 

#2: Communication is the Key 

Wedding photographers and videographers unfortunately can’t read your mind, trust me we wish we could. 

If you just have to have a portrait taken in a specific location at your wedding venue, then inform the videographer so that they will be able to capture it for you. 

One great way to offload some of the stress from you for this part of the day is to assign someone, maybe your maid of honor or mother of the bride, to have all the small items put together that need to be captured on video. Whether that is the rings, jewelry, or cufflinks, decide what needs to be captured and then have someone else in the bridal party help.  

Whatever you decide to do on your once in a lifetime day, make sure you have a plan and that plan is clearly communicated to your vendors. All of this prep work will ensure a wonderful day where you can focus on you and your groom. 

#3: Minimize and Luminate

When you are reviewing how you want your wedding day to look, one key thing that is sometimes forgotten is where each photo location is located. 

If you have a garden venue should that video footage be taken first? If you have a waterfront venue should you take those pictures after or before the ceremony? Questions like these need to be answered before the wedding day. 

An extremely helpful tip for brides is to minimize the amount of travel back and forth between video locations. We all know how expensive a wedding dress can be and want to make sure it doesn’t get dirty from unnecessary back and forth. 

Do leave sometime built into your day so that you can travel from location to location as needed, but don’t make things more difficult on yourself than they have to be. Keep it as simple as possible. 

Another key tip to remember is utilize natural light wherever possible. This could mean when you’re getting ready or taking outdoor portraits. Natural light is typically softer and offers a beautiful way to help capture all the key video footage you want of your special day. 

#4: Put the Bridal Party to Work!

Your bridal party is your best family and friends that you could ever wish for, that is why you choose them to be a part of your wedding right? 

It is your wedding day as the bride which means you get to boss people around and have them help you out to make sure you don’t go insane with managing this day. 

One thing your bridal party can do to help ensure amazing videos are captured throughout the day is to keep the dressing rooms clean for photos. Everyone has stuff they bring into the dressing rooms while getting ready, food, drinks etc. Designate a part of the room where all of that stuff goes so it won’t be captured in any pictures or video during the day. 

Dare we have to say it, Groom and groomsmen, take your wallets and phones out of your pockets for photos. Nothing can be more frustrating for a wedding videographer than having to ask everyone to take stuff out of their pockets before capturing a shot.

#5: Take Care of Yourself and Try to Relax

Oftentimes simply taking a moment to make sure you’re alright during a wedding day can be extremely difficult. There are stories of brides and grooms not eating or drinking their entire wedding day because of how busy the day got. 

Take five minutes to drink some water, have a snack, and to just breathe. You’ll get through your special day just fine, we promise!
